Saving the Earth!

Recently, I have felt the need to take better care of the earth. I don't know why I've never really thought about it before but it's something that not only we should do but we're supposed to do.

"God spoke: 'Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.'”

- Genesis 1:26

In case you weren't convinced, here's your evidence. We are responsible for making sure we treat everything right, not just humans but living breathing creatures, too, and the earth! Even though, that's a lot it should be something we're doing as a good (well as good as we can be) human. I thought I would share different things I've started doing to take care of everything around me better than I have been.

1. Recycling!

This something that is really simple and most of you probably do already but you shouldn't take if for granted. You have the ability to make the world a better place from the comfort of your home, take it!!!

2. Entertainment

There are some movies or circuses or other forms of entertainment that you hear about that have abused animals or people or done other harmful things. If you hear about that, just do some research if you're interested and don't watch it. Don't support it. This way you can discourage people from taking advantage of other animals or people.

3. Products you buy

If you're passionate about this, then you could even watch what companies you support. If you don't like animal testing but you really love makeup, then buy from Lush or The Body Shop. Maybe you want to dive right in by becoming vegan or vegitatian or pescetarian and you'd watch what type of foods you would be eating. There are hundreds of other ways you could take care of the earth or help animals out by supporting companies that give money to charities or buying on Amazon Smile.

4. Water

I'm sure you've also heard a lot about water, too, but I'll put it here anyways. Some states and countries don't have clean water or they are going through droughts. It is again important that we remember that. Next time you go to brush your teeth maybe save a little of the water by turning the faucet off while you brush your teeth or don't take five hour showers. Leave some of it for the earth and the animals to use, too.

5. Clean up! Clean up! Everybody clean up!

A few years ago, I was part of a marine science camp. One day, we spent an hour cleaning up the beach in front of the ocean for the baby turtles to make it to the ocean and so it wouldn't harm the sea animals. It might seem like it's not a big deal or time consuming but it actually is really good for the animals. Make sure to bring gloves and hand sanitizer and other things like that to protect yourself. Doing this will keep the animals from getting trapped in a plastic bag or eating a soggy cigarette. Junk that you see lying around could be poisonous and potentially lethal for animals walking around. It would even be beneficial for you to double check that your own trash has been picked up and taken care of. You can make sure you aren't contributing to the pollution this way.

I hope this gives you a few ideas on how take care of the earth and its children (if you aren't sure I mean us and the animals). Take some time this summer to take care of the world around you and maybe even try to do a few of these things!

School has officially ended for me so all I've got to say is, have a great summer!!!
